THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL VIRTUAL REALITY FILM FESTIVAL
– MARCH 2017 –
From 2 to 12 March 2017, at its next edition, the Luxembourg City Film Festival will go further in its approach to virtual reality by planning an integrated pavilion « Pavillon FARR », a prefiguration of the future Virtual Reality Film Festival (FARR) and its competition (target 2018).
The theme of the pavilion will focus on the issue of virtual reality (VR) and militancy. Two questions arise in this regard. How can a medium such as VR engage the audience in activist statements? Empathy is one of the strong arguments for legitimizing the RV. But is this really an end in itself, or must we go beyond the sensationalism that for the moment predominates in many works?
To answer these questions, the objective of the Pavillon FARR 2017 will be to show a selection of a dozen films, documentaries or fictions daring from the narrative and artistic point of view and having a committed author’s point of view. A selection of films shown at major festivals, having proved a strong attraction of the public, fanning conversations and opening up horizons.
